Municipal Candidacy Information
The Municipal Election for Mayor and five City Council Members will be held on Tuesday, August 26, 2025. If necessary, Run-Off Election will be held on Tuesday, September 23, 2025.
The qualification period for candidates will begin on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at 7:30am and end on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at 5:00pm. Please note City Hall will be closed on June 19, 2025, for the Juneteenth Holiday.
Candidates qualify through the City Clerks Office at City Hall.
The qualification fee for candidates seeking election is $50.00.
During the qualification period, candidates pay their qualification fee and file their Statement of Candidacy form with the City Clerk.
Candidates must also file a Statement of Economic Interest form with the Alabama Ethic Commission (AEC) to appear on the ballot. For more information on the State of Economic Interest form or to complete the form online, go to https://ethics.alabama.gov/soei.aspxor contact the AEC at 334-242-2997. Candidates who already have a current Statement of Economic Interest form on file with the AEC do not have to file a duplicate statement at qualification.
All candidates must be a registered voter of the municipality at the time of qualification and must have been a resident of the City of Ashville for at least 90 days prior to the election.
The Fair Campaign Practices Act (FCPA) sets out the rules for how and when candidates can raise and spend money. The law also specifies how campaign finance activities are reported. It is the candidates responsibility to comply with the FCPA. Candidates must file the FCPA Forms electronically with Alabama Secretary of State. The newly elected administration will take office on Monday, November 3, 2025.
